The ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) proteomics server of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is dedicated to the analysis of protein sequences and structures as well as 2-D PAGE. www.expasy.org/tools
GPCRDB: Information system for G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs)
The informal collaboration of GPCR databases include GPCRDB at the CMBI, the Netherlands (formerly at the EMBL), tinyGRAP Mutant Database at the CMBI (formerly at Tromso, Norway), The Olfactory Database (ORDB) at Yale, Frank Kolakowski's GCRDb (no longer accessible) and Swiss-Prot. www.gpcr.org/7tm
wwPDB: Worldwide Protein Data Bank
The Worldwide Protein Data Bank (wwPDB) consists of organizations that act as deposition, data processing and distribution centers for PDB data. The founding members are RCSB PDB (USA), PDBe (Europe) and PDBj (Japan)1. The BMRB (USA) group joined the wwPDB in 2006. The mission of the wwPDB is to maintain a single Protein Data Bank Archive of macromolecular structural data that is freely and publicly available to the global community. www.wwpdb.org
ClustalW2 is a general purpose multiple sequence alignment program for DNA or proteins. It produces biologically meaningful multiple sequence alignments of divergent sequences. It calculates the best match for the selected sequences, and lines them up so that the identities, similarities and differences can be seen. Evolutionary relationships can be seen via viewing Cladograms or Phylograms.
A Guide to Fluorescent Probes and Labeling Technologies
"The Handbook — A Guide to Fluorescent Probes and Labeling Technologies" is a comprehensive resource for fluorescence technology and its applications. Newly revised, The Handbook contains detailed information describing the use of more than 3000 Molecular Probes products for life science research, including extensive data, numerous technical notes, and full-color images of the products in action.
